Understanding plugin vs browser extension licenses

Short version: When you buy a 5 / 25 / unlimited client website plugin plan the browser extension can be used by up to the same number of people working on behalf of the the organisation paying for it and any number of compatible web browsers.

This allows a 5 license plan to be used by 5 support team members (in as many browsers on their chosen device as they like) for use on an unlimited number of customer websites.

The longer version: Nag Me Not started life as a WordPress plugin for use by site maintainers / care plan providers, which would be installed on the end customer sites to clear up the clutter.

With fewer update / nag notices filling up their dashboard they’ll hopefully be less likely to raise a support ticket to you asking why their site is showing updates.

After accessing some WordPress sites that weren’t my direct hosting customers (so no plugin could be installed) it became clear that a browser extension was a must-build spin off.

To keep licensing simple the browser extension re-uses the same license key you receive when the plugin is purchased. Depending on the type of work you do, either the plugin or browser extension could be used, or both!

For someone like myself who offers hosting, maintenance and is also a plugin dev I can use both parts with no extra cost. If your business grows and you gain additional support team members you can upgrade your license to the next plan via the Freemius portal.
